To Whom It May Concern,

My name is Jeremy Burcham, and I am writing to you because I have devoted my life and work to the protection of life and property. The people and communities I serve have asked me to focus my time, energy, and resources on this mission, and I take that responsibility seriously.

My role and responsibilities are unique. In many situations, I work alongside — and beyond — what traditional agencies such as the police and all armed forces are able to provide. I often operate with tools, resources, or long-term commitments that fall outside the normal scope of everyday public services. Because of that, I sometimes need to limit how much I speak in detail about my work in public or in casual conversation.

I am giving you this letter so that I don’t have to repeatedly explain my situation out loud or expose myself to unnecessary questioning or exploitation. I am not asking you to take on my burdens or my risks. I am simply asking for your professional cooperation.

There are people who will attempt to manipulate who I am, misrepresent my words, or falsely claim to speak with me, for me, or on my behalf when they do not and are not authorized to do so. Some of these individuals may actively try to deceive you in order to undermine or interfere with the mission that many have asked me to carry out to protect life and property.

When I come to you, I am doing so as a customer or client who is requesting specific services and paying for them. What I need from you is straightforward:

• Please provide the services requested to the best of your ability and within your normal policies.

• Please treat my requests with the same seriousness, care, and professionalism you would offer to anyone whose safety or property might depend on your work.

• Please respect my privacy and understand that if I choose not to go into detail about my mission or circumstances, it is so I can stay focused on the work I am obligated to do.

• Know that I will also listen to your concerns and do my best to protect you, so long as you are not acting to destroy life or property.

I respect that you have procedures, boundaries, and limits, and I will do my best to work within them. In return, I ask that you accept this letter as a clear statement of why I may be brief, quiet, or guarded about the larger context of my work. I do have special legal status, authority, and exemption from rules because I’m qualified and approved.

Your willingness to simply do your job well — accurately, honestly, and without unnecessary obstacles — directly supports my ability to continue protecting life and property. For that, you have my sincere thanks.

If you need to verify basic information or have questions directly related to the service you are providing, I will do my best to answer within the limits of what I can safely share.
